Nacon was on a roll yesterday when the publisher showcased its new Test Drive Unlimited and RoboCop games. However, one of the bigger announcements came from the upcoming The Lord of the Rings Gollum. Instead of the typical developer diary, we actually got a glimpse of new gameplay for a change.
While The Lord of The Rings Gollum gameplay was pre-alpha footage, the game looks great. Developer Deadalic Entertainment showed off some new environments including some mentioned in the original books. We also got a look at some new characters including a younger Gandalf, The Mouth of Sauron, and Thranduil.

According to Deadalic Entertainment, The Mouth of Sauron servers as the emissary of Sauron, the original “Lord of the Rings” and the villain in the base trilogy. It is unclear yet what his role is in the upcoming The Lord of The Rings Gollum.
Apart from the new characters, Deadalic Entertainment also showed off some exploration. Gollum can parkour his way around the world including grappling off ledges and sneaking his way through various environments.
When it comes to the story, the game follows Gollum’s original adventure as he attempts to retrieve The One Ring after losing it in his cave. Deadalic Entertainment Producer Harald Riegler says that the team behind the game are working on creating a faithful adaption to Tolkien’s vision of the universe.
The Lord of The Rings Gollum is set to launch in late 2022. The game was pushed back into 2022 after suffering from some major delays brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Check out the trailer down below:
