Next Starfield Update Includes 60FPS Mode, Detailed Surface Maps and More

Bethesda Game Studios will release update 1.11.33 for Starfield on 15 May on all platforms that includes a 60FPS mode for Xbox Series X, detailed surface maps and more. This will surely help players with exploration as the update will show every bit of geometry in an area including points of interest and remote locations.

Update 1.11.33 for Starfield is already available in Steam Beta ahead of its arrival on 15 May for Xbox Series X/S. The update will change the performance mode on Xbox Series X to include a targeted 60FPS options, though 40FPS will also be available for those with a VRR display.

Speaking in a bit more detail on the improved frame rates, Bethesda said:

“You can now choose between 30, 40, 60 or an Uncapped frame rate on VRR displays. If you do not have a VRR display running 120hz, you will still be able to select from 30 or 60. Screen tearing may occur at times when selecting 60 on a non-VRR display.”

“You can now prioritize between Visuals and Performance while trying to maintain the frame rate target,” Bethesda continued. “If you’re choosing a frame rate target of 60 or above, we recommend changing this to Performance. Prioritizing Visuals keeps the highest resolution while maintaining full detail for special effects, lighting, and crowds.”

“Prioritizing Performance lowers internal resolution and detail for special effects, lighting, and crowds. Both modes may adjust internal resolution dynamically when scenes or action get heavier as well. When switching between modes, you will see the lighting change briefly as the system catches up to the new mode.”

In addition to the frame rate improvements, the update will also introduce more detailed surface maps that adds markers for several important locations in large cities such as shops, missions locations and more. An “Extreme” difficulty will also be introduced as the highest difficulty setting in Starfield.

Finally, players will be able to customise the interior of their ships similar to the way players can customise homesteads. This includes moving furniture and other decorative items around to make your ship more personal than just the exterior.

Starfield is available for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Bethesda has confirmed that the game’s expansion Shattered Space will arrive in fall 2024.
