Plants vs. Zombies 3: Welcome to Zomburbia Soft Launches on iOS and Android

EA Games has quietly launched Plants vs. Zombies 3: Welcome to Zomburbia. The game is currently available in very limited regions including the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Australia, Philippines and the Republic of Ireland.

EA says the game will launch in more countries at a later date but the announcement is good news on its own. It has been a long time since we got a new Plants vs. Zombies game and Plants vs. Zombies 3: Welcome to Zomburbia aims to bring the series back to life.

According to EA, Plants vs. Zombies 3: Welcome to Zomburbia takes the series back to its classic line-based tower defence gameplay with returning characters and new plants and zombies. The company says the game is a story-driven, episodic experience that expands on the overall plot of the series too. There are also a lot of callbacks to the original game and the classic gameplay.

At the moment, we don’t know when Plants vs. Zombies 3: Welcome to Zomburbia will launch in more regions. EA has been working on Plants vs. Zombies 3 for some time now. The game entered closed beta testing back in 2020 and has seemingly undergone quite a drastic design change since.

It is a mobile game and free-to-play, so expect it to be ridden with in-game purchases, limited gameplay timers and other aggressive monetization mechanics.
