PlayStation Plus Essential Games for August 2022 Leaked

The PlayStation Plus Essential games for August 2022 have seemingly leaked and fans have a variety of big titles to look forward to. According to the leak, these include Yakuza: Like a Dragon for PS4 and PS5, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 for PS4 and PS5, and Little Nightmares for PS4.

As revealed by Dealabs, three big games are coming to PlayStation Plus Essential next month. Yakuza: Like a Dragon is the seventh mainline instalment of the beloved Yakuza series, while Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a remake of the first two classic Pro Skater games, complete with updated graphics and gameplay mechanics.

Little Nightmares, the adorably twisted side-scrolling title from Bandai Namco, is also part of the lineup as a bonus for PS4 users (though PS5 users will also be able to access it).

If the leaks turn out to be true, then it marks a particularly solid month for PlayStation Plus. All three games received positive receptions upon release, with players praising Yakuza: Like a Dragon‘s daring deviation from the series formula in presenting a new, turn-based battle system and gameplay style. However, it retains the series’ trademark sense of humour balanced with excellent drama in its storytelling.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 are remakes of the first two Pro Skater games originally released in the 90s for the PS1. In addition to being a ground-up remake with newer mechanics and features, it also revitalised interest in the dwindling brand of Tony Hawk skateboarding games following the poor critical and commercial reception of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5.

Little Nightmares is the underdog entry in the lineup, acclaimed for its inventive and scary premise that puts a nightmarish spin on a side-scrolling adventure. Fans have called it everything from cute to utterly disturbing, which should give you a good idea of what to expect from the game. It also produced a sequel, Little Nightmares II, in 2021.

The games will apparently be available from 2 August to 6 September.
