Star Wars Jedi Survivor Delayed Respawn Entertainment

Respawn Starts Development on Third Star Wars Jedi Game

Respawn Entertainment has seemingly started development on the third Star Wars Jedi game. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched in May this year to some rather positive reviews (with a bit of fan backlash due to poor PC performance and HDR issues on consoles). EA Games confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sold a lot of copies making it the second biggest Star Wars game launch on Steam.

EA is, of course, looking to deliver even more Star Wars Jedi success and the company has greenlit the third game. According to a job listing posted on the Respawn Entertainment vacancies site via LinkedIn, the developer is now looking for a game writer to join the team.

While this could be any Star Wars game, the job listing is quite specific and it hits the nail on the head when it comes to detailing the Star Wars Jedi series. The listing asks for a Principle Game Writer to help create an “incredible Star Wars experience for our players in a fun, third-person action-adventure setting”. You don’t get any more specific than that.

We’re looking for a highly skilled Principal Game Writer who will embrace our philosophy and share their hard-earned expertise to help us create an incredible Star Wars™experience for our players in a fun, third-person action-adventure setting. We’re picturing an avid gamer who is passionate about storytelling through interactive narratives. Under the direction of the Lead Writer, the Principal Game Writer will be responsible for writing dialogue, scenes, story treatments, and supporting text for the game.”

We are still a few years out from seeing this Star Wars Jedi sequel in the flesh. The first game, Fallen Order was released back in 2019. Survivor was then launched this year and successfully went through development during the covid-19 pandemic. Respawn was able to release the game within just three years of development.

If the studio follows the same path, we might see the Star Wars Jedi sequel before 2026 at this rate.
