Silent Hill 2 Remake Release Date May Have Leaked

Konami and developer Bloober Team officially revealed the Silent Hill 2 remake last year during a Silent Hill livestream, though the announcement trailer wasn’t accompanied by a release date. Many fans expected that we’d hear more about the game this summer but since most major gaming events have come and gone, there has been no update. However, a new leak now suggests that the game is on its way this September.

According to a report from Insider Gaming (via Australian retailer Gorilla Gaming), the Silent Hill 2 remake will release on 29 September 2023 for PS5 and PC. The listing mentions an “expected release date” which many have chalked up to simply being a placeholder date, though most placeholders are listed as the last day of the month. The 29th seems quite specific, not to mention that it falls on a Thursday which isn’t out of the ordinary.

With September just a few months away, fans are wondering when Konami and Bloober Team will finally announce the Silent Hill 2 remake’s release date. If the retail listing is true, then we can expect an announcement to happen sooner rather than later. Either way, take this with a pinch of salt for now.

The Silent Hill 2 remake aims to completely overhaul the classic game including updated visuals and tweaked gameplay. However, Bloober Team previously stated that the core of the narrative will remain unchanged which is good news for those hoping for a more faithful retelling of one of the best games in the franchise.

Sony talked about the remake when it was announced back in October:

“Twenty-one years have passed since the release of Silent Hill 2 for PlayStation 2 and the big leap in technology allows us to be even closer – at least in some aspects – to how Team Silent would have desired their game to be back in 2001. Thanks to state-of-the-art motion capture sessions, we can deliver the best facial expressions in the series’ history and show a wide range of emotions even before a character speaks a single word.”

Silent Hill 2 is currently in development for PS5 and PC.
