Tekken 8 is just a few short days away from release but the character trailers keep coming in. It looks like Bandai Namco Entertainment just released a new gameplay trailer and it’s none other than Devil Jin, the dark, devil gene-possessed half of Jin Kazama.
The gameplay trailer for Devil Jin shows off the character’s familiar and new combos in Tekken 8, playing a bit more aggressively than previous iterations. Devil Jin was first introduced (albeit as a teaser) in Tekken 3 before becoming a staple fighter in the franchise. The character’s moveset is just different enough from Jin’s to warrant his own place on the roster, though some combos still carry over.

Bandai Namco released a new story description for Tekken 8, putting some emphasis on Jin’s background and role in the game:
“Fist meets fate in Tekken 8. Tekken 8 continues the tragic saga of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines and their world-shaking father-and-son grudge matches starting from six months after the closure of the last match. The story of Jin Kazama’s growth and determination marks a new chapter in the timeless saga.”
In related news, Bandai Namco revealed its post-launch plans for Tekken 8 which includes the first DLC character, Eddy Gordo. Game director Katsuhiro Harada previously stated that the team would be making tweaks and adjustments to the game’s accessibility options after concerns were raised about its colourblind filters possibly inducing migraines or even vertigo.
If you’re still on the fence about Tekken 8, a demo is currently available to play on all platforms that gives you access to four characters (Jin, Kazuya, Nina and Paul) as well as some single-player modes like Arcade Quest and the opening chapter of the story mode. The game’s review embargo also dropped yesterday and it’s currently sitting with a high 90 average on OpenCritic.
Tekken 8 releases on 26 January 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out the Devil Jin trailer below:
