The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Game Gets Release Date

Sumo Nottingham and Gun Interactive have announced a release date for its game adaptation of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 18 August 2023. The game will be an asymmetrical third-person horror where players must take on the roles of survivors and outsmart the killer, Leatherface, or his deranged Slaughter family. It’s largely based on the classic 1974 movie directed by Tobe Hooper.

To address the elephant in the room, it’s a very similar experience to Dead by Daylight. However, the studio promises that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will feature iconic characters and locations from the original 1974 movie as well as authentically recapture its tone, atmosphere and feel of 1970s Texas. The trailer certainly promises plenty of excessive violence and gory deaths but the idea of letting the killers be the entire family instead of just Leatherface is a good spin on the formula.
