Universal+ Live in South Africa for DSTV Subscribers

Little over a month ago, we were eagerly anticipating the South African release of the popular international service, Universal+. Now, as we type this up, the service is officially live. On Wednesday evening, Glitched attended the Universal+ launch event, filled with famous faces from across the continent coming together to celebrate the ability to watch Universal TV, E!, DreamWorks, Studio Universal and Telemundo – all from one convenient place, DSTV.

Universal+ brings a massive selection of new shows, movies and complete collections for viewers to binge through, as well as a plethora of reality shows. Thanks to a deal with MultiChoice Group, the entire service is available for no extra cost by visiting Catch Up on the DStv App or using a connected Explora device. At launch, viewers can expect to see Celebrity Game Face, Mathis Family Matters, Welcome Home Nikki Glaser?, Keeping Up with The Kardashians, Tell Me Your Secrets, Fantasy Island, Departure, Leverage: Redemption, The Scent of Passion, Nurses, 100 Days to Fall in Love, All Hail King Julien, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Dawn of the Croods, Dinotrux and more.

Lee Raftery, Managing Director Europe, Middle East & Africa, NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct-To-Consumer said:

“We’re thrilled to launch Universal+ with our long-standing partner DStv, giving their customers a brand-new way to enjoy a vastly expanded catalogue of our best content. From Friday, 14 October, the incredible line-up of entertainment available to DStv customers ranges from award-winning original production Celebrity Game Night – which shortly goes back into production for a fourth season – to gripping dramas and Hollywood blockbusters. And, it’s all at no extra cost to a subscription.”

Unfortunately, for those without active DSTV subscriptions, Universal+ is directly tied into the service and can’t be accessed any other way. Digital packages for DSTV range anywhere from R30pm to R700pm, but no matter which package you’re on – everyone will have access to Universal+.

If you can’t wait to explore all the service offers, you can stream Universal+ today through catchup on the DSTV app or via a connected Explora device.
