Publisher Koei Tecmo Games and Nioh developer Team Ninja recently announced a new dark fantasy action game, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, at the recent Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. While the studio confirmed that it will arrive at launch on Xbox Game Pass, there was initially some confusion about whether or not it will be coming to PlayStation consoles. However, we now have confirmation that it will arrive on PS4 and PS5.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was originally announced for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Now, Koei Tecmo has confirmed that it will launch on PS4 and PS5 as well, with PlayStation uploading the game’s reveal trailer on its YouTube channel yesterday. It is also scheduled to launch in early 2023, likely on the same date as its Xbox and PC release.
Xbox players will have the added benefit of being able to play Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty day one via Xbox Game Pass. Sony’s revamped PlayStation Plus subscription service presumably won’t get the same treatment, though we’ll have to wait for official confirmation from PlayStation.
Unlike Nioh which encompassed Japanese mythology, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will shift its setting to Chinese mythology and feature a warrior up against a variety of legendary creatures and foes.
The game’s official product description reads:
“Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty follows the dramatic, action-packed story of a nameless militia soldier fighting for survival in a dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms. Players fight off deadly creatures and enemy soldiers using swordplay based on the Chinese martial arts, attempting to overcome the odds by awakening the true power from within.”
Team Ninja is also known for developing the hack-and-slash action series Ninja Gaiden.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty releases in early 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. Check out the awesome reveal trailer below.
