We got the opportunity to sit down and chat with South African actor Steven John Ward during Comic Con Africa 2023, who is best known for playing the Warlord of the Sea, Dracule Mihawk, in the live-action One Piece series on Netflix. Ward opened up about his experience with doing physical stunt work during the filming of One Piece season 1, getting to know the cast and of course, how it feels to wave a big sword around.
Steven John Ward talked about his past work and road to get to where he is now, starting off small with theatre work before climbing his way to star in various local and international television shows and movies. This culminated in him being cast in the live-action One Piece, where he talked about doing some difficult physical stunts, learning how to use a sword and getting along with the likeable cast of the show.
