Dragon’s Dogma 2 Street Date Broken by Twitch Streamer

The street date for Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been broken by a Twitch streamer who streamed over four hours of the game before Capcom brought the hammer down. The review embargo for Dragon’s Dogma 2 hasn’t even lifted yet but one streamer claims to have purchased a physical copy of the game legally from Walmart.

As reported by Games Radar, Twitch streamer Justichor says they purchased a copy of Dragon’s Dogma 2 from Walmart, possibly due to an error on the retailer’s part as the game isn’t supposed to hit store shelves until 22 March. They also have receipts to show and claim that they weren’t doing anything illegal since the game was purchased from a major retailer. However, that didn’t stop Capcom from issuing a swift copyright strike which brought the Twitch livestream to an abrupt end.

The street date for Dragon’s Dogma 2 being broken means that around 1,000 viewers who managed to tune into Justichor’s stream before it was taken down were allowed to see aspects of the game that Capcom had shied away from showing in trailers and promotional material. Of course, we won’t be posting any clips or gameplay footage of the stream, though it seems to floating around forums and message boards already.

Capcom released a character creator demo for Dragon’s Dogma 2 last week which let players create their own custom-made Arisen before the game launches. Created characters can then be carried over to the full game, so it will spare you a few hours trying to create your ideal hero.

A new overview video of Dragon’s Dogma 2 was also uploaded by Capcom and it’s narrated by none other than Ian McShane, best known for acting in John Wick, Deadwood and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 releases on 22 March 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
