We got the opportunity to sit down and chat with cinematographer Lyn Moncrief on the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s live-action adaptation movie.
He is best known for working on films like A House on the Bayou or They/Them. Moncrief opened up about his experience working closely with the director Emma Tammi on previous films. These films allowed them to work together in great harmony on this film. Moncrief also discussed educating himself on video games to better understand how to adapt them to cinema.
Lyn Moncrief talked about his past work and the road to get to where he is now. Building those suspenseful and terrifying scenes with shadow work, angles, lighting and setting for the scene. He also touched on working with the animatronics built for the film and how practical the shots were. This culminated in a great game-to-live-action adaption film. He also talks about the different perspectives and narratives of this film version storyline.
