Capcom’s press release description on the Sunbreak expansion reads:

“Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is the monstrous new expansion for Monster Hunter Rise, the critically-acclaimed and top-selling Monster Hunter™ title that released on Nintendo Switch in March 2021. The expansion will include an all-new storyline with more new monsters, new additions to combat, the Master Rank quest difficulty, and more. More information and other exciting new gameplay details on Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will be shared prior to the expansion’s June 30, 2022 release on Nintendo Switch.”

Hunters will also be given new abilities in Sunbreak after they beat the story of the base game. To get newcomers through the base game, Capcom have also added the Defender series of weapons that boast high attack power for the helping players advance the main quest. Pair this with the Black Belt armor and Veteran’s Talisman for greater survivability.

Furthermore, players who approach High Rank will be given the Guild Cross armour set that can speed up the process of gathering useful items and materials.

Monster Hunter Rise players who don’t purchase the Sunbreak expansion will get a 13GB update upon its release, and it will be mandatory for online play, introducing weapon balances, item packs and character edit vouchers.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak releases on Nintendo Switch and PC on 30 June 2022.
