If you’ve been following my TI9 Fantasy roster picks so far, then you should have roughly 1900 points depending on the stats on your cards. That’s pretty good, but not great as the last day of the group stages I went for a bit of a YOLO play (but provided a safe option for our readers) and as luck would have it, no tiebreakers occurred. Now, with the Main Event of The International 2019 starting tomorrow, things are getting serious and our picks will be based on player performance stats during the group stage and much more.

First up, you should only pick from four teams tomorrow, namely VG, PSG.LGD, VP and TNC. These teams will be playing in the upper bracket’s first round in BO3 matches. The other four teams will be playing in the lower bracket round one, which means they will only be playing one game.
The second thing you will want to look at is the teams you think will win their matches and as per my bracket predictions, I went with players from PSG.LGD and VG, with one player from TNC thrown in, the PO5 support Tims. The reason for this is that Tims has been a staple for years in the Fantasy Challenge performing on an 18.4 raw point score average in the group stages this year.
As you can see above, my TI9 Fantasy roster picks for Day 1 of the main event are all the best-scoring players thus far from PSG.LGD and VG in their respective positions. It is also important to note that you shouldn’t bank on one match, as if this match features short games, you will be left with less points. Therefore, I went with the safe route that is sure to bag a tonne of TI9 Fantasy Challenge points by picking players from both matchups, with the hopes that TNC versus VG will be the longest of the two upper bracket matches.
There are also some general rules to consider as well, so don’t forget to check out our The International 2019 Fantasy Challenge guide.
