PlayStation State of Play Confirmed For This Week – Expect PS VR2 and Suicide Squad

A new PlayStation State of Play event has officially been announced by Sony. The show will take place on Thursday, 23 February and focus on updates from Sony’s third-party partners including PS VR2 reveals and an in-depth look at Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

According to the Japanese PlayStation Blog, the upcoming State of Play will run for about 45 minutes and feature 16 new games coming to PlayStation consoles. We know at least five of them will be reveals for PS VR2 titles, followed by a lengthy 15 minutes of new gameplay and details for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Since PS VR2 officially launched today, it makes sense that this State of Play would mainly be focused on the new hardware.

Sony provided a description of this week’s State of Play:

“Get ready for new looks at some anticipated games from our third-party partners, as well as a first glimpse at five PlayStation VR2 games set to arrive later this year. Then, settle in for more than 15 minutes of all-new gameplay details and updates on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the next game from Rocksteady Studios.”

As for what else might be coming, we recommend keeping your expectations in check for now. Sony made it clear that the focus will mainly be on PS VR2 games and a deep dive into Suicide Squad. It’s possible that we’ll receive updates from games like Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil 4 and Final Fantasy XVI which are all slated to release in the next few months. On that note, it’s unlikely that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have a presence at the show since Sony might be saving the anticipated PS5 exclusive for a larger rumoured event.

PlayStation’s next State of Play will air on 23 February 2023 at 1pm PT / 6pm ET / 9pm GMT / 10pm CET or 11pm CAT.
