Silent Hill: The Short Message Game Rated in Korea

Another round of Silent Hill leaks and rumours are happening and this time, it comes from a mostly reliable source. As spotted by Gematsu, a new video game titled Silent Hill: The Short Message has been rated in Korea. Judging by the subtitle, this could possibly be a P.T-style demo as a teaser for a new full Silent Hill game, which many believe is related to the previous leaks earlier this year.

Gematsu reports that Silent Hill: The Short Message has been rated in South Korea. No other details were offered other than the title, but it looks like an announcement might be coming sooner rather than later. Korean ratings typically happen when a game is ready to be revealed or shown in some capacity, so this is a pretty good lead.

Silent Hill leaks have slowly picked up traction over the last few months, starting with a massive leak that revealed some early footage of a new Japanese-developed title in the franchise. Another leak later revealed Bloober Team’s rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake project, with another reportedly coming from Annapurna. Multiple Silent Hill projects are in development, according to rumours, and hopefully we’ll be hearing about them soon.

As for where we can expect this reveal to happen, it’s anyone’s guess. PlayStation held a short State of Play event this month with a bigger showcase rumoured to be happening in October. Perhaps this might be the stage for Silent Hill‘s return, though we’ll only know closer to the time.

Konami buried the Silent Hill franchise following the release of Silent Hill: Downpour. We haven’t received a new game in the series for over a decade, though it’s believed that Konami is planning a massive revival of several of its key IPs including Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania.
