Shift Up has confirmed that Stellar Blade is the same in every region and that the game isn’t censored at all, even in regions that usually censor games with explicit content.
While this doesn’t tell us much about what to expect in Stellar Blade from a violence and nudity perspective, it does mean that everyone is getting the same experience.
In an X post, Shift Up said that even the Japanese version of the game offers the same uncensored gameplay and cinematics. So there’s no worry that players in certain regions are missing out on the fun.
Keep in mind that it takes a lot to get a video game censored. There haven’t been many. However, Japan and some Asian regions often censor certain content in games. So much so that even certain characters in League of Legends look completely different in these countries.
For example, K’Sante in the game is an openly gay black singer who is heavily inspired by Lil Nas X. In China, this character’s backstory is completely different to deviate away from his homosexuality.
We also had South Park: The Stick of Truth which had to censor full gameplay scenes in many countries due to their sexually explicit nature. In South Africa, the version we got was censored.
Stellar Blade doesn’t look to feature loads of nudity but certain countries might have put up a fuss with the lead character Eve. Thankfully, that isn’t the case. The game is expected to launch later this week. Look forward to our review dropping beforehand.
「Stellar Blade」 offers the same uncensored version in all countries, including the Japanese version.
