Sony’s attention to detail on the new PS5 hardware is impressive. To the naked eye, the upcoming PlayStation 5 console and DualSense controller might look like black and white pieces of tech but there’s a lot more going on than meets the eye. Both the controller and the console are actually completely covered in the PlayStation symbols. Now, I am not talking about the buttons and logo.

On the DualSense Controller, the grips of the handles are covered in X O □ ∆ symbols. To make it even more impressive, the symbols fade out into the rest of the controller as if the entire plastic shell is hiding the same pattern. You can see this in the image below. The bottom of the controller includes the iconic PlayStation symbols. However, as you towards the front, they get smoother. If you were wondering, no, the R2 and L2 buttons are simply just textured and don’t have the symbols.
As for the PlayStation 5 console, it too is covered in hidden PlayStation symbols. These are found inside the two white flaps that fold outwards on the device. In addition, Even the camera and new Pulse headset have the same texture on it.
This small detail may not be groundbreaking. However, if you did not actually look at the device and the matte areas, you would probably never spot it. The last time Sony used the symbols on any hardware was the on the 20th Anniversary PS4 console. The console itself featured the buttons lasered onto the shell. In addition, the controller’s touchpad also had the same pattern.
