SEGA has released the opening animation for the upcoming Sonic Dream Team game and it kind of makes me want to subscribe to Apple Arcade. The game is set to launch on 5 December only on Apple Arcade meaning you’ll need an Apple TV, iPad or iPhone in order to play it. The intro animation is incredibly stylish as it sees Sonic and the team whisk around while fighting a nightmare version of Dr. Eggman who happens to have multiple arms.
Sonic Dream Team follows Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream and Rogue as they try to stop Dr. Eggman from using a device to control dreams and nightmares which allows him to bring them to life. Sonic and the team venture through various dream worlds which are mash-ups of new and old locations merged together into a sort of whimsical dream-like design.
SEGA says Sonic Dream Team will feature the series’ fast-paced platforming, intense boss fights and showdowns with Dr Eggman. There are also new characters to meet along the way who will make their debut in the Sonic series for the first time.
If anything, Sonic Dream Team seems to have the potential to be another great Sonic The Hedgehog game for 2023. SEGA launched Sonic Superstars in October which was also a somewhat success. You can read our review of the game here.
