Upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2 Updates to Add 30FPS Cap on Consoles

Capcom is rolling out a few planned updates for its latest action-RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2, one of which finally adds a 30FPS cap on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The game was criticised for having performance issues on both consoles and PC due to its uncapped frame rate which fluctuated when entering busy settlements and towns or exploring sections of the open world. As promised, Capcom is planning future patches to fix these issues.

Yesterday, Capcom addressed the controversial performance issues and microtransactions of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and while microtransactions aren’t going away overnight, the developer is at least attempting to stitch up the technical problems. In a social media post, Capcom laid out its future updates plan which includes adding a Max 30FPS option on consoles to cap the frame rate for a hopefully smoother experience. It also notes that frame rate improvements are still being worked on too.

Other additions include the option to start a new game even when save data already exists. The Art of Metamorphosis, a rare book that allows you to change your character’s appearance, will have its item availability increased at Pawn Guilds to 99. A quest that allows players to acquire their own dwelling (a place to save and rest) will also be moved up to an earlier stage in the game. These updates will roll out for players across all platforms.

Further updates include minor fixes to technical hiccups on the Steam version which, according to players, currently runs horrendously on Steam Deck. Capcom hasn’t mentioned when these patches will arrive.
