The anticipated launch of Wonka is just around the corner and Warner Bros has released a full second trailer to hype up the film. Wonka is the latest film in the Willy Wonka universe based on the popular Roald Dahl book. However, this time around, the film tackles Willy Wonka’s younger years and acts as a prequel to the story we all know.
In the trailer, we see Willy up against what is known as the candy cartel. This is a group of distinguished gentlemen who will do anything in their power to prevent Willy from creating new candy. They seemingly control the city and have law enforcement do their bidding. You know, the classic “rich and powerful white man who wants to stay rich and powerful” story from back in the day.
We also get a much better look at Hugh Grant’s Oompa Loompa. The trailer reveals that while the character is a small orange man, he is, in fact, one of the larger breeds of Oompa Loompa in Loompa Land. He is described as a “Whopper” which is seemingly a larger Loompa. Oh, he is also named Lofy.
The film stars Timothee Chalamet, Hugh Grant, Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Matt Lucas, Natasha Rothwell, Tom Davis, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Peter Joseph, Rich Fulcher, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Calah Lane, Colin O’Brien, Rahkee Thakrar, Ellie White, Murray McArthur and Tracy Ifeachor.
Wonka is expected to launch worldwide in cinemas on 15 December. Watch the trailer below:
