Deadpool and Wolverine Becomes Most-Viewed Trailer of All Time in 24 Hours

Earlier this week, Disney and Marvel Studios released the first trailer for its upcoming R-rated MCU movie, Deadpool and Wolverine. The trailer has seen tremendous views online, quickly becoming the most-viewed trailer of all time within 24 hours. It has passed records previously held by other Marvel movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Endgame.

According to Statista, the trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine collected a colossal 365 million views in its first 24 hours. Those statistics were likely collected not only from a culmination of YouTube trailers but also social media views such as Facebook, Twitter/X and anywhere else that the trailer was shared. For comparison, Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s teaser trailer amassed 355.5 million views while Avengers: Endgame‘s final trailer gathered 268 million.

In most cases this translates to potential box office success. With that amount of views for the trailer, which was also released during the Super Bowl further bumping up its viewership numbers, it seems like Deadpool and Wolverine is set to become a box office juggernaut when it releases this July.

Deadpool and Wolverine is the third Deadpool movie and first to be released under Disney after the company acquired 20th Century Fox and the X-Men license. The trailer holds nothing back at taking shots at Disney and Marvel Studios. In one moment of self-awareness, Wade Wilson calls himself the “Messiah” of the MCU and “Marvel Jesus.” That’s pretty much on-brand for Deadpool’s fourth-wall breaking antics.

Deadpool and Wolverine is set to be the only MCU movie released this year as Marvel Studios shuffles its schedule around. However, Disney shouldn’t worry about it being a box office failure like previous MCU movies. The character is beloved worldwide, resulting in strong box office numbers for both Deadpool 1 and 2 despite being R-rated movies.

Deadpool and Wolverine hits cinemas on 26 July 2024.
