Deadpool and Wolverine Shows Nine Minutes of R-rated Footage at CinemaCon

Marvel Studios recently showcased nine minutes of new R-rated footage for its upcoming MCU movie, Deadpool and Wolverine, at CinemaCon. The presentation was hosted by an unfiltered Kevin Feige who apparently dropped plenty of F-bombs during the panel because that’s allowed now. Unfortunately the nine-minute footage wasn’t posted online but outlets who attended the panel managed to spare some details on what was shown.

The footage described by IGN begins with Wade Wilson working at a rental car company. During one test drive with a family, Wade inappriopriately jokes, “Not that I didn’t want to have [kids]. I just haven’t had a lot of vaginal sex.” Wade apparently still keeps his Deadpool outfit in his locker, though he’s mostly out of the game. The merc walks into a surprise birthday party in his apartment (as shown in the first trailer), where there’s a ton of euphemisms for cocaine mentioned.

At one point, Wade says, “Hey, cocaine is the one thing Feige said is off limits!” showing that Deadpool and Wolverine will still have plenty of fourth-wall breaks. The TVA then shows up at his door and drags him off to the headquarters where he’s greeted with screens of the Avengers in action. One shot shows a distant future where Thor is crying over Deadpool. At one point, Wade breaks another fourth wall saying, “Suck it, Fox. We’re going to Disneyland!”

The footage then goes into a sizzle reel showing extended clips from the trailer including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in his iconic yellow suit. The footage ends with Wolverine telling Deadpool to “fuck off.”

By the sound of things, Deadpool and Wolverine will have no problem being as raunchy as the first two movies under Disney’s watch. Feige seemingly gave Ryan Reynolds and company a lot of freedom to make sure that the movie delivers on its R-rated premise which is terrific news for fans.

The anticipation is riding high for Deadpool and Wolverine when it arrives in cinemas on 26 July 2024. The first trailer became the most-viewed trailer of all time within 24 hours. Maybe people were expecting to get an answer to those long-running Taylor Swift cameo rumours too.
