Earlier this year, actor Norman Reedus accidentally leaked the existence of Death Stranding 2, which is all but confirmed at this point to be in development at Kojima Productions. A new report suggests that the sequel could be Hideo Kojima’s last PlayStation exclusive with Sony as a contract is apparently in place for the studio to produce two exclusive titles for PlayStation consoles.
This is according to leaker Dusk Golem, who recently stated that Sony and Kojima Productions had signed an agreement to produce two exclusive games for PlayStation. One of them was Death Stranding and the other is likely Death Stranding 2. Dusk Golem adds that both parties are currently negotiating whether or not to renew this agreement or simply let it expire, which could mean that Death Stranding 2 will be the last PlayStation game that Kojima develops.

Of course, Kojima is a busy man as he recently signed a deal to work with Microsoft on an unannounced Xbox title (which is heavily rumoured to be the leaked horror project, Overdose, starring Death Stranding actor Margaret Qualley). Another teaser suggests that Kojima Productions is also working on a virtual reality game, though details are sparse about it.
As with all rumours, take this with a pinch of salt for now. Sony hasn’t mentioned the exact details of its contract with Kojima Productions so it’s possible that more games could be coming from the company that are PlayStation exclusives. This is, however, unlikely as Kojima is already working with Xbox and doesn’t seem to want his IPs tied down to one platform.
That said, Death Stranding is currently available on PC Game Pass too, though there’s been no word about if it will officially head to Xbox Game Pass at some point.
Death Stranding is currently available on PS4, PS5 and PC (via Steam and PC Game Pass).
