GTA 6 Protagonist Isn’t Voiced by Troy Baker

After theories and rumours circulated online that voice actor Troy Baker would be voicing Jason, the male protagonist of Grand Theft Auto 6, Baker squashed them by confirming that he wasn’t involved in the role. Rockstar Games has yet to officially name the voice actors and performers for GTA 6, though that hasn’t stopped fans from taking their own guesses.

Speaking in an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Troy Baker revealed that he’s not voicing Jason in GTA 6 despite all the theories and rumours online. In fact, he wanted the actual voice actor to get all the credit for his performance. “I want that guy, whoever it is, to get credit for his work, because I’m sure it’s going to be great,” said Baker, though he added that he took the fan theories as a compliment in the end.

When the first trailer for GTA 6 launched last December, it confirmed that the game will feature two playable protagonists: Lucia and Jason. The pair is described as a Bonnie and Clyde duo who commit robberies and escape the police while trying to build lives for themselves. Even though Jason’s voice is barely heard in the trailer, fans believed that it sounded an awful lot like Troy Baker, who voices several notable video game characters including Joel from The Last of Us.

GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated game releases in history. An analyst previously called it ‘the most important game to ever release in the industry’, citing the title’s enormous hype and anticipation. The debut trailer is currently the second most-watched video game trailer of all time on YouTube, only trailing behind Subway Surfers.

Earlier this year, Rockstar Games issued a return to office mandate for all employees leading up to the launch of the game next year. Even though it’s listed for release sometime in 2025, we think there might be some delays that inevitably push it further back, possibly into 2026.

GTA 6 is currently in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
