Team Cherry has confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong has been delayed. The game was originally meant to release within the first half of this year but sadly, won’t release until sometime after July 2023. We kind of had a feeling it would happen. There’s been no release date information on the game and we were already headed into the second half of May.
According to Team Cherry’s public representative Matthew Griffin, the game currently doesn’t have a new release date or window just yet. He says in a statement that Hollow Knight: Silksong has “gotten quite big” and the team needs more time with it.

Griffin didn’t provide any new update on a possible release window. He simply says that development is still continuing on the highly anticipated sequel and the team is happy with how it is shaping up.
“Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong. We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We’re excited by how the game is shaping up, and it’s gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can. Expect more details from us once we get closer to release.”
Hollow Knight: Silksong was originally announced back in February 2019. It was scheduled to launch before July 2023 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Game Pass, Switch and PC. Very little of the game has been shown off to date.
Team Cherry has confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong is bigger and more ambitious than the original game. It takes place in a new kingdom and features over 150 new enemies and a Silk Soul mode. There’s also a new difficulty. The game’s official description reads:
“Captured and brought to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak,” the game’s official blurb reads. As the lethal hunter Hornet, journey to all-new lands, discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts and uncover ancient secrets tied to your nature and your past.”
