Lies of P Surpasses 7 Million Players Worldwide

Lies of P, the latest Soulslike action-RPG from Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio, has exceeded 7 million players worldwide. The developer revealed the latest number in a social media post, which seemingly accounts for its success on all platforms including last-gen releases. This puts in the upper echelon of Soulslike titles to have amassed several millions of players.

Neowiz Games posted on social media that Lies of P managed to exceed 7 million players since its launch about half a year ago, which is impressive considering the timeframe. However, we also have to take into account that the game launched day one on Xbox Game Pass, which might’ve significantly boosted its player numbers and led to these impressive figures. It was previously called a sleeper hit but with these numbers, it appears to have been a pretty big hit worldwide.

Lies of P received critical acclaim upon release, with many outlets calling it one of the most exciting and refined Soulslike games in recent memory. It went on to be nominated for Best RPG and Best Art Direction at The Game Awards last year, though it lost to Baldur’s Gate 3. The game draws a lot of stylistic influence from From Software’s PS4 masterpiece, Bloodborne, despite reimagining the classic tale of Pinocchio with a gothic coat of paint.

Shortly after release, Neowiz were quick to reveal that more content was being developed for Lies of P which includes DLC and a sequel. A new job listing posted by Neowiz at the beginning of the year revealed that the sequel will be shifting over to Unreal Engine 5 – the first game was developed in Unreal Engine 4. Last month, the company also removed the controversial Denuvo DRM software from the Steam version after waves of backlash.

Lies of P is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
