Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake to be Announced at PlayStation Showcase – Report

The rumours surrounding a potential remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater continue to swirl online and we now have another report to digest. According to this latest rumour, the remake will officially be unveiled at an upcoming PlayStation Showcase which is reportedly set to air later this month or early June. Additionally, it’s also believed to be launching in 2024 as a PS5 console exclusive.

According to XboxEra insider Shpeshal Nick, Sony and Konami will unveil the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake at the rumoured PlayStation Showcase soon. Another report from Windows Central’s Jez Corden claimed that Sony landed deals with Konami for exclusivity to franchises like Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and a new Castlevania game so it makes sense that some rumours seem to suggest that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will be exclusive to PS5.

As with all rumours and reports, take this with a pinch of salt. Shpeshal Nick’s track record isn’t always accurate and this could simply be more speculation than anything concrete at the moment. However, where there’s smoke, there’s fire and enough evidence has piled on to make the remake reports seem more believable.

For instance, it’s believed that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is not being handled by Bluepoint like many first speculated but by Chinese company Virtuous Studios. An employee at Virtuous claimed to be working on an “unannounced AAA remake” which many quickly assumed was Metal Gear Solid 3. This was backed up by Video Games Chronicle’s Andy Robinson, a more reliable source, who heard that the game is targeting a 2024 release window.

It also makes sense for Konami to revive one of its most prized IPs similar to what the company did with the Silent Hill franchise last year. Unfortunately, it might not include series creator Hideo Kojima at the helm so it will be interesting to see how any new projects in the Metal Gear universe are handled – hopefully none with the word “survive” in it.
