New Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Trailer Teases Sephiroth, Snake Boss Fight and More

The latest trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the highly anticipated sequel to 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake, is here and it surprisingly shows a lot in one minute. The clear focus of the trailer is Sephiroth as we get a look at the one-winged angel setting fire to Nibelheim as well as glimpses of characters like Yuffie and Red XIII in action. Additionally, there’s a familiar fight against a giant snake boss fight and hints of things deviating quite a bit from the original game’s timeline.

The focus of the new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is mainly on the team stopping Sephiroth and giving the villain a menacing presence while raising the stakes. It’s not just about stopping an evil corporation in Midgar this time as the adventure spans a large open-world with plenty of new locations and stops along the way, including the ill-fated Nibelheim which we see on fire in the trailer.

Furthermore, the trailer also shows a potential boss fight against a giant fire-breathing snake which might be the very same snake that inhabits a treacherous stretch of swamp land from the original game. The trailer finally teases us with a scene of Tifa seemingly falling off a cliff as Cloud screams for her, suggesting that this timeline might have some alterations to the original game – though that was expected after the bombshell ending of Remake.

Earlier this month, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will have a lot more Sephiroth in the game, this time as the main threat for Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Red XIII and Aerith to stop. While the story will naturally include Vincent Valentine, the publisher also confirmed that he won’t be playable, at least not in this entry.
