PlayStation Indies July 2022: All The Announcements and Trailers

Yesterday, Sony hosted another PlayStation Indies day where the company made seven announcements surrounding various upcoming indie titles for PS4 and PS5. Among the big reveals and trailers, PlayStation confirmed a release date for the bizarre Cult of the Lamb, a re-release of the 2016 game The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition, Inscryption coming to PlayStation consoles and more.

Fans of PlayStation indie games have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. Here’s the full list of announcements and reveals from PlayStation Indies day.

Sea of Stars Coming to PS4 and PS5

The retro-inspired turn-based RPG Sea of Stars is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Thanks to the trailer, we also get a closer look at the games’ turn-based battle system, party system and gameplay mechanics. It was originally revealed for the Nintendo Switch six months ago, but it looks like it will grace Sony’s consoles too.

Schim Releases on PS4 and PS5

PlayStation confirmed that the unique indie game Schim will also release on PS4 and PS5. An early teaser trailer was first released for the game two months ago before appearing at Day of the Devs. Players will take control of a shadow creature that’s trying to find the human it belongs to. You’ll traverse environments using only the shadows, making for some great puzzle sections.

Cult of the Lamb Release Date Revealed

Though without a trailer to accompany the announcement, developer Massive Monster took to a PlayStation blog post to confirm that Cult of the Lamb, the bizarre indie title about anthropomorphic animals who engage in religious zealotry, will release on 11 August 2022.

Signalis Comes to PS4 in October

The PS1-inspired retro sci-fi game Signalis will come to PS4 on 27 October, PlayStation reiterated after making the announcement three weeks ago. The visuals definitely take a few pages out of classic horror games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Clock Tower, which sounds terrific.

The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition Releases This September

The Tomorrow Children originally launched in 2016 on PS4, but it looks like it will receive a re-release on 6 September filled with plenty of new features. The Phoenix Edition will add new islands to The Void, along with Monolith structures revealing newly added paths on existing islands. Players will be able to traverse between islands using a grappling hook. Best of all, the Phoenix Edition will remove external servers and can finally be played offline, allowing other characters to now be controlled by Comrade AI.

Cursed to Golf Gets August Release Date

A brand new trailer for Cursed to Golf has revealed that the game will come to PS4 and PS5 on 18 August. Putting a spin on golf, you play as a deceased former golf champion in the afterlife who must “battle” through a changing 18-hole course in order to revive themselves.

Inscryption is Coming to PS4 and PS5

The critically acclaimed card-based horror game Inscryption is finally coming to PS4 and PS5, PlayStation announced yesterday. Both the DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers will come with unique features such as RGB lights mimicking on-screen lighting and scenarios. No release date was provided.
