PS5 Slim

PS5 Slim Launches 12 April in South Africa For R11,999 and R13,999

South Africans will soon be able to pick up the PS5 Slim. The slimmer console, which launched in most territories back in late 2023, will arrive in SA on 12 April. According to a Takealot listing, the console will retail in South Africa for R11,999 for the Digital Edition and R13,999 for the disc model.

At the moment, there’s no pricing for the additional disc drive attachment but I gather it will set you back R1,999 – R2,999. This means you can purchase the PS5 Slim Digital Edition for R11,999 and upgrade the console to the disc model by purchasing the disc drive at a later date.

Keep in mind that the new PS5 Slim requires an additional verticle stand to be positioned upright. This stand will also come with an additional cost. I suspect it will set you back around R700. There are also various PS5 Slim Face Plates which are expected to launch in the future.

New PS5 Console

No other retailers have gone live with their PS5 Slim pre-orders at the time of writing. I am not sure if Takealot perhaps pulled the trigger a bit early or what’s going on. However, you can now pre-order your PS5 Slim from Takealot by visiting this link. The console will launch on 12 April which means if you pre-order, you should get it on the day.

Pre-orders include the two standard PS5 slim models and a Mortal Kombat 1 bundle for R14,299.
