Rise of The Ronin Features Four Player Co-Op and a Character Creator

The upcoming PS5 exclusive Rise of the Ronin is Team Ninja’s latest action RPG. In classic tradition, the developer has added co-op into the game which allows four players to complete the game’s main story missions together.

While details are scarce regarding how deep the Rise of the Ronin co-op mode goes, the official FAQ mentions the four-player co-op mode as the ability only to play “main story missions”. By the sound of things, you won’t be able to explore the open world with other players and the co-op is restricted to only the main story chapters.

The FAQ also mentions that Rise of the Ronin does not feature any PvP content.

“join up to three others to experience the game’s main story missions in online co-op. Note that a PlayStation Plus membership is required to play online, and there is no PVP combat.”

In addition to the co-op, the FAQ also confirmed that Rise of the Ronin will include a full character creator. Up to now, we all assumed that players would take on the role of the same character. All the game content revealed to this point only showed off the same character. That isn’t the case.

Similar to other Team Ninja games, players will be able to create their own unique main character at the start of Rise of the Ronin. They will likely be able to alter their appearance throughout the game too and change their hair, body shape and other facial details.

It is surprising to see these features being announced in an FAQ and not in any gameplay. Hopefully, Team Ninja will showcase the co-op and character creation before the game’s launch next month.

Rise of the Ronin is set to launch on 22 March exclusively on PS5. The game was recently cancelled in South Korea after it was confirmed to feature references to Shōin Yoshida. Watch the latest world trailer below.
