Star Wars Outlaws, the upcoming open world adventure game from Ubisoft studio Massive Entertainment, has received a new story trailer along with a confirmed release date of 30 August 2024. The game will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC later this year, with the latest trailer showcasing some dazzling visuals, interesting characters and promises of some big moments set in a galaxy far, far away.
As the title suggests, the game is set in the Star Wars universe, though it follows an original storyline and characters created by Ubisoft Massive. Players take on the role of Kay Vess, a scoundrel who searches the galaxy for a new, free life, though she soon finds out that it’s difficult to run from certain things. The story of the game takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi as the Empire has dominance across the galaxy.
The official description for Star Wars Outlaws reads:
“Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.”
Ubisoft previously released a gameplay walkthrough of Star Wars Outlaws last year, showing the large, handcrafted planets to explore, seamless travel between planets and space, combat and some of the first story details which you can read more about right here. It seems to be sticking fairly close to the heart and soul of the original Star Wars trilogy and we couldn’t be more excited to play it. Thankfully the release date isn’t too far away.
