The menu screen and possible title for Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, the next major entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, has seemingly leaked. Rumours began circulating about the game’s potential title this week allegedly via a ‘reliable Ubisoft leaker’ who claims that it will be titled Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Yesterday, the game’s main menu screen was also leaked, giving us a bit more information to digest.
The menu screen appeared on the Assassin’s Creed subreddit from someone who seemingly had access to what appears to be an early build of the game. It shows both protagonists – believed to be a female shinobi named Naoe and a male samurai named Yasuke – on the menu screen with the new logo at its centre. The menu shows options for “Play Game”, “Select Character”, “Select Season”, “Savegame” and “Advanced” settings.
As for the title leak, it’s difficult to trace exactly where it originated from as most information on it has been wiped or deleted on message boards, however, a NeoGAF forum post caught wind of the title, revealing it to be called Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Furthermore, the unnamed Ubisoft leaker claims that two expansions are planned for the game.
Assassin’s Creed Red (“Shadows”) main menu on Xbox Series X.
Quality mode likely targets 1800p 30fps in-game, otherwise the main menu probably would be native 4K.
This also suggests there’s a performance mode. I assume it might be around 1200p-1400p 60fps. pic.twitter.com/EsPtQOefT1

We recommend taking all of this with a pinch of salt for now. It’s easy to create fake images that might seem legitimate at first glance and spread them online. The same can be said about the title of the game. We’ll simply have to wait for Ubisoft’s confirmation, which shouldn’t be too long as we suspect that it will be revealed during the Ubisoft Forward event taking place this June.
