This morning the gaming industry is shaking after a leaked in-game screenshot from the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League revealed that the game will include a Battle Pass system and six different in-game currencies. The header image above perfectly captures the thoughts of gamers at the moment.
The screenshot seemingly shows off the game’s main menu and there’s a lot to unpack in the image. We get a closer look at the four main characters standing together on the screen. Each character has their own level and the word “bot”. This seemingly confirms that if you’re not playing the game in co-op with friends, bots will take over the other roles.
There are also a few level numbers on the screen. Each character seems to include two different ranking tiers. There’s the 25 (26 in the case of Deadshot and King Shark), and there’s another number “12”. It is unclear what these stand for at the moment. Could be your player level and perhaps an online level?
Of course, the elephant in the room is the top menu layout which includes a range of tabs. There’s Squad, Looks, Loadout, Talents, Social, Battle Pass, Store, Codex and Options. The two major concerns here are the Store and Battle Pass tabs. This no doubt confirms that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice will include a Battle Pass system as well as in-game purchases.
While Rocksteady hasn’t confirmed what players can expect from these tabs, you’ll likely need to spend money on a Battle Pass in order to unlock new “Looks”. The Store tab also gives us an idea that Rocksteady will include a range of in-game purchases. It isn’t clear what these are but we can expect cosmetic items and maybe (hopefully not), XP boosts and other resources.

Speaking of resources, the image also reveals that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will feature six different in-game resources which seemingly play a big role in the game. They appear in the main menu which means they are important.
There’s virtually no information yet regarding these resources and what they do. However, the alarm bells have been rung and gamers are concerned. The last two superhero games to follow the Battle Pass and/or multiple resources path didn’t do so well. Both Marvel’s Avengers and Gotham Knights featured similar mechanics which resulted in a mindless grind for currency and resources.
Not to mention that Gotham Knights and Marvel’s Avengers were also co-op games which put their online connectivity in front of their gameplay and as a result, failed at launch.
Rocksteady has yet to comment on the leak. There’s no doubt that damage control needs to be done now to ensure gamers that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League isn’t just another generic beat ’em up with heavy monetization.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is set to launch on 26 May this year for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
