It doesn’t take a scientist to figure out that the Grand Theft Auto series is just one huge parody of America. The upcoming GTA 6 will be no different and already, the first trailer for the game holds so many real-world references to some iconic moments in American history that went viral over the past few years.
If you thought the trailer had a random scene of a crocodile walking through a store for fun think again. That crocodile incident actually happened in Florida a few years back. The crackhead lady with the two hammers is also a replica of a similar “Karen” video which went viral.

Dual-Weilding Racist Hammer Karen
Back in 2020, a racist Karen attacked a resident’s car with two hammers. She went on a rampage flipping over dustbins, swearing and swiping at her car. She was then attacked by the victim’s family member and pushed into a bush. It was karma at its finest. Watch the original video below.
Alligator Takes a Dip in a Swimming Pool
Back in 2021, an alligator decided to take a dip in someone’s pool. The creature was between 2 to 3 meters long and was found in Lanai in East Lake Florida. At first, the alligator was stuck under the table but it soon got loose and jumped into the pool. It was removed by authorities. Alligators in swimming pools actually happen quite often in Florida so you’ll find many videos of them.

Lady Twerks on Car Roof
In 2017 a video went viral of a lady twerking on the roof of a car. Why you ask? Because Florida. The video is quite old but the reference in the GTA 6 trailer is spot on.
Alligator Goes Shopping in Walmart
In Florida, you may just have to compete with alligators walking through Walmart while you go about your daily shopping. Back in 2013, an alligator was harassing customers and employees at the local Walmart forcing them to close its doors while the animal passed by. In the GTA 6 trailer, this alligator is a little more forward and bashes into the store. It has likely happened somewhere down the line.
Naked Man Runs Riot
Just like “alligators in pools”, naked people running through Florida is quite a common occurrence for some reason. Perhaps, it is the humidity? In the GTA 6 trailer, we see a naked man trying to escape cops near a gas station. This is in reference to another video that went viral in 2022 of a naked man with a machete who walked through the DeLand gas station and robbed the store.

Back in 2018, a local Florida neighbourhood was upset after a man decided to do all his household chores, including his garden work in the complete nude. The local authorities were contacted by concerned residents who spotted the man. The nudist in question refused to do an interview with the news stating that he was a “private person”. The police weren’t allowed to arrest the man due to local laws allowing nudity as long as you’re on your property.
Miami’s “Joker” Arrested
Lawrence Patrick Sullivan went viral back in May of 2017 after becoming Miami’s so-called “Joker”. The man with bright yellow hair has a face covered in tattoos and even a large Joker-like grin tattooed onto his cheeks. Sullivan was arrested for carrying a concealed handgun after he published a video on YouTube waving around a handgun (and a shotgun in some other videos).
The reference to Sullivan is uncanny in the GTA 6 trailer as his court appearance looks identical. Granted, his facial tattoos are a little different and he has purple hair but the dots all connect here.
Bikers Cause Havoc on Florida
In November 2022, bikers invaded the streets of Florida causing a ruckus for drivers on the road. These bikers refused to obey traffic laws and drove through red robots forcing cars to make way for them (sounds like our South African taxis). Cops tried to catch the group of bike members and weren’t very successful. Thankfully, the incidents slowed down the more aggressive cops became with chasing the bikers down.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch only on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2025.
