XDefiant Gets Delayed Again and Gamers Aren’t Having it

You have likely gathered by now that XDefiant didn’t make its 31 March release date. Ubisoft promised to launch both Skull and Bones and XDefiant by the end of the first quarter this year and while we got the pirate game, the shooter is still nowhere to be seen.

While players were hoping to jump into the competitive shooter soon, Ubisoft has once again delayed the launch indefinitely. In a new tweet, which is the first official tweet from the XDefiant account since December 2023, the team confirmed a new 12-hour stress test which will hopefully result in some update regarding the client’s launch.

The post says that XDefiant has always been community-first and the team have taken all player feedback to heart to help improve the game. The post continues to state that Ubisoft is currently using this 12-hour stress test to help gather data. After the test, the team will be able to lock in a release date.

Of course, gamers aren’t happy about this. Even though there is seemingly “another” test taking place, the general sentiment seems to be quite negative about the game. Perhaps the year-long delay and weeks of silence aren’t enough to keep the community engaged.

One user says that the only thing they have seen from XDefiant for the past year is walls of text and paragraphs of excuses. Another user says that these “game is coming soon” posts arrive almost monthly and there is still no positive sign of the game’s launch.

Ubisoft has been under fire recently over XDefiant. The developer has been accused of being in a “boys club”. The development team has reportedly been under pressure from executives to implement changes into XDefiant to make the game more like COD.

“The Boys Club is a closed group of protected individuals who think they are better than everyone else and do as they please without any repercussions.”

Another worker said one person in particular “has a history of treating people extremely badly with more HR reports than I’ve ever seen”. Ubisoft has denied these reports saying that the studio is committed to the well-being and inclusivity of all team members.

With the so-called 12-hour stress test inbound, maybe we’ll get an XDefiant release date before the end of this new quarter.
