French journalist Chris Klippel, who is renowned for having Rockstar Games insider information, has revealed that the Grand Theft Auto developer is gearing up for a new game announcement and it’s coming very soon. According to the insider, it’s a new project entirely, so it’s not a remaster or another GTA V re-release. Some believe this could be the long-rumoured Bully 2.
Speaking on Twitter, Klippel stated that an imminent announcement from Rockstar Games is coming, though he didn’t mention when or where it will be revealed. With June’s stacked gaming events, it’s likely to appear at any of the confirmed showcases, including PlayStation’s State of Play, Summer Game Fest or the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.
Klippel mentions that he’s certain it’s a new project, so don’t expect another GTA V re-release (thank goodness) or one of the rumoured Red Dead Redemption remasters supposedly in development at the studio.
It’s possible that this announcement could be for a new IP altogether. However, some fans have suggested that this could be Bully 2. Last year, a report circulated that the Bully sequel was cancelled at Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive, but a follow-up report from well-known leaker Tom Henderson suggested that it was scheduled to appear at last year’s Game Awards as a surprise reveal.
This is simply a case of who to believe at this point, though we wouldn’t entirely rule out the possibility of Bully 2 being revealed soon. On the other hand, Rockstar Games might’ve quietly been working on a new property. GTA 6 could still be several years off from release, so it’s unlikely that the developer will unveil anything now about that anticipated title.
We’ll just have to wait and see what Rockstar Games has in store for fans, but as with all rumours, take this with a grain of salt. If we could have a dream announcement, though, it would probably be Table Tennis 2.
