Final Fantasy Producer Yoshinori Kitase Final Fantasy IX Remake

Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary Lineup Leaked

Square Enix is getting ready to host a massive Final Fantasy celebration event in February. The event will showcase the series’ biggest achievements and celebrate its 35th anniversary. However, ahead of the stream on 7 February, a leak has appeared online that reportedly details the announcements, runtime and reveals set to take place on the day.

The leak claims that Square Enix will announce multiple new projects as well as provide updates on current ones. A big announcement for the stream is the rumoured Final Fantasy IX Remake. This is not the first time we have heard about this remake. In fact, the Final Fantasy IX Remake was first leaked through the original GeForce now database leak back in 2021.

Keep in mind that mostly all the games listed in that leak have been announced. So it is just a matter of time before Square Enix showcases this Final Fantasy IX Remake.

Other games on the list include Final Fantasy X-3, updates to Final Fantasy XVI set to launch in June and a large focus on Final Fantasy XIV Online.

The only suspect making this list look like a fake leak is the inclusion of Final Fantasy X-3. While Final Fantasy X game director, Yoshinori Kitase did state a while back that he would like to work on a sequel to the story, he hasn’t confirmed it. Previous reports claim that a rough outline for the game was completed back in 2020.

I won’t write Final Fantasy X-3 off just yet but after the poor reception of Final Fantasy X-2, it would be a strange choice for Square Enix to tackle a sequel almost twenty years later.
