Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is Coming to PS4 and Switch in April

Square Enix has finally announced a release date for Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Players can jump into all six classic Final Fantasy games packed in the bundle on 19 April 2023. The collection will contain the first six mainline games in the series fully remastered with several improvements and tweaks.

Updates to Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster include rearranged soundtracks by original composer Nobuo Uematsu, improved visuals, a modernised UI, auto-battle functions, difficulty adjustments and more. Players will also have the option to switch between the original and rearranged soundtracks in each game. Exploring the map is also safer since another option will let players turn off random encounters.

Additionally, players can boost the amount of experienced gained during each game for faster and easier playthroughs. Once certain settings are adjusted, experience earned can also be quadrupled. When the bundle originally launched on PC and mobile, fans criticised the ugly text font changes. The PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions will allow you to now change back to the classic default font to bring it more in line with the look of the older games.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster can be bought as a bundle and will cost $75 on Nintendo Switch, though no PS4 price has been announced yet. Each game can also be purchased individually but Square Enix has yet to reveal the individual costs for each game.

Fans have been begging for a remaster of classic Final Fantasy games for a while now, specifically Final Fantasy VI which remains one of the highest-rated games in the series. The original launch of the bundle was limited to PC and mobile platforms but it looks like Nintendo Switch and PS4 owners will finally be able to experience the classics. Unfortunately, there has been no word on an Xbox version of the bundle arriving anytime soon.
