Final Fantasy XVI Previews Combat Eikon Battles

Final Fantasy XVI PC Version and DLC Confirmed

After initially teasing Final Fantasy XVI for PC, Square Enix has now outright confirmed that the action-RPG will be coming to PC. Additionally, the company also confirmed that two paid DLC expansions are currently in the works. The news arrives after a substantial update to the PS5 version that added new costumes for characters and more gameplay balances. Fans should expect news about the PC port of the game sometime before the end of the year says producer Naoki Yoshida.

Yoshida shared the news at a PAX West panel over the weekend, thanking fans for their continued support of Final Fantasy XVI before revealing the free PS5 update that now allows players to change the costumes of several characters in the game including Clive, Jill and Torgal. The producer finally added that work has begun on a PC port of the acclaimed action-RPG along with the exciting news that DLC was on the way too.

Yoshida spoke about fan demand for more Final Fantasy XVI story content, confirming that the team was hard at work on expansions as well as the long-awaited PC version:

“As I mentioned earlier, we’ve seen so many opinions and reactions from our community of Final Fantasy XVI players. But one thing that came through particularly strongly was how people wanted to see more of Valisthea’s story and spend more time with her inhabitants. To accommodate, the development team has started work on two instalments of paid DLC. Finally, while Final Fantasy XVI was released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, we are aware that many of you have been asking for a PC version. So allow me to take this opportunity to officially announce that development on a PC version is currently underway.”

“I hope to be able to give you more information on both the DLC and the PC version before the end of this year, so please stay tuned,” Yoshida added.

Back in July this year, Yoshida told players that DLC was on the table but not confirmed yet. The decision would be made to make DLC if the demand was high enough. As it turns out, there has been plenty of demand for more story content in Final Fantasy XVI, especially with some loose ends regarding the secret Eikon, Leviathan.

Considering that Final Fantasy XVI managed to sell a staggering 3 million copies in one week on PS5 alone, it makes sense that Square Enix would want to expand the availability of the game to more platforms including new DLC.
