Naughty Dog has released a trailer for Grounded II: Making of The Last of Us Part II which takes fans behind the scenes on the development process of 2020’s award-winning game. The documentary doesn’t have a release date yet but it’s expected to release sometime this year.
The first documentary gave us a glimpse behind the making of The Last of Us, interviewing several Naughty Dog developers about the highs and lows of the title’s development leading up to its release on PS3. Grounded II will presumably follow a similar pattern, featuring interviews with Naughty Dog creatives about the making of The Last of Us Part II. Hopefully it also addresses the major leak that happened before release and how that impacted developers.

The COVID-19 pandemic might’ve also introduced a few roadblocks for the game that we might be unaware of, so this documentary has the opportunity to give us a first-hand account of how Naughty Dog managed development during that difficult time.
The Last of Us IP is back in the gaming spotlight and arguably bigger than ever following the release of HBO’s live-action series adaptation and a remaster for The Last of Us Part II close to launch.
HBO recently cast Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina and Young Mazino as Jesse, suggesting that season 2 will adapt the story of The Last of Us Part II. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are set to return as Joel and Ellie, respectively.
Meanwhile, The Last of Us Part II Remastered is set to release next week on PS5, bringing updated visuals and performance improvements as well as a new mode called No Return. This follows The Last of Us Part I remake which completely remade the 2013 game with new visuals to bring it on-par with the second game, also allowing easier access to the title for newcomers.
