Marvel’s Spider-Man is Sony’s Second Biggest PC Launch So Far

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered recently launched on PC via Steam to mostly positive reviews, marking Sony’s second biggest PC launch trailing behind God of War. The superhero title by Insomniac Games originally launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2018 before getting the remastered treatment when it launched alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in late 2020.

According to SteamDB, Marvel’s Spider-Man reached 64,893 players at the time of writing – just 10k shy of God of War‘s 73,529 peak player count. Horizon Zero Dawn, the first PlayStation exclusive to appear on PC, received 56,557 players during its peak, while Days Gone trailed further behind at just 27,450 players.

The official description on the game’s website reads:

“Sony Interactive Entertainment, Insomniac Games, and Marvel have teamed up to create a brand-new and authentic Spider-Man adventure. This isn’t the Spider-Man you’ve met or ever seen before. This is an experienced Peter Parker who’s more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time, he’s struggling to balance his chaotic personal life and career while the fate of millions of New Yorkers rest upon his shoulders.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man is one of the most critically acclaimed PlayStation exclusives and developer Insomniac’s best-selling game of all time. It received a standalone expansion, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, in 2020 that put players in the shoes of another fellow Spider-Man, Miles Morales, as he dealt with the responsibilities of becoming the web-slinger in order to defend Manhattan from a new threat.

Insomniac Games is currently working on a sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is due out in 2023 exclusively for PS5. However, players on PC can now experience one of the best PlayStation title on the market, fully remastered. Additionally, the studio is also developing a new Wolverine game but that does not have a release date yet.
