Yesterday we reported on a potential new PlayStation Showcase or State of Play apparently happening in May, according to reliable insider Jeff Grubb. While the contents of the event are a mystery – and probably will be until Sony gives us an official announcement – a new leak suggests that both the Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team and the rumoured new Astro Bot game will make appearances at the show.
The leak originates from The Snitch, who has a track record of accurate leaks. He claims that the rumoured upcoming PlayStation Showcase in May will have both the Silent Hill 2 remake as well as a new Astro Bot game. The Snitch typically posts leaks in cryptic text. This time, he simply tweeted, “May a bot see through the fog of love?” The ‘bot’ and ‘fog’ are references to Astro Bot and Silent Hill, though it’s unclear what he’s referring to with ‘love’.
There might be some truth to these claims. Back in February, Bloober Team and Konami revealed the first gameplay for the Silent Hill 2 remake, though it wasn’t accompanied by a release date. It’s possible that a date is planned for sometime in the second half of 2024 and we might get that announcement at the PlayStation Showcase along with a new look at the anticipated horror remake.

Additionally, Jeff Grubb teased back in February that a new Astro Bot game might launch this year. The upcoming showcase would be the ideal place to reveal the new title, giving some credibility to The Snitch’s claims.
The event could also give Sony an opportunity to lay out its roadmap for future PS5 exclusives as well. Sucker Punch Productions is rumoured to be working on a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima while Santa Monica Studio might be working on either a new IP or something related to God of War.
