Stellar Blade Demo Arrives on PS5 This Friday

A demo for Stellar Blade, the upcoming PS5 exclusive action game, will be made available this Friday, 29 March – almost a full month ahead of its release in late April. According to the PlayStation blog post, the demo will allow players to experience the opening sections of the game up to the first boss fight. A “special surprise” is also included for players who complete the demo.

A demo for Stellar Blade was accidentally uploaded earlier this month ahead of schedule, though PlayStation was quick to remove it from the store. However, the demo will now officially be available on 29 March, giving fans an explosive first glimpse at the stylish combat in the opening moments of the full game. The demo promises to feature smooth 60FPS combat with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller.

The PlayStation blog post reads:

“The demo takes place from the very beginning of the game when Eve, a member of the 7th Airborne Squad is sent to Earth on a mission to reclaim the planet from the Naytiba, up to the first boss fight. This first stage will include the tutorial phase to help you familiarize yourself with basic combat features as you explore post-war Eidos 7, a human city now infested by the Naytiba, giving you an early grasp of gameplay mechanics that will serve you throughout the game’s story.”

In related news, developer Shift Up confirmed that Stellar Blade will launch with three graphics modes: performance (prioritising framerate), resolution (prioritising quality) or a balance of the two. The developer also revealed that the game’s main story will take approximately 25 hours to complete, though there’s a bit more side content to do that could inflate that length.

Stellar Blade launches on 26 April 2024 exclusively for PS5. Make sure you check out the South African pre-order guide as well as the various editions that you can pre-purchase right now. Watch the demo trailer below:
