Gears 6 Might Be Revealed This Summer – Report

Gears 6 is reportedly set to have its big reveal this summer. According to reliable journalist and insider Jeff Grubb, Microsoft is looking to unveil the next chapter in the Gears of War series sooner rather than later. All signs point to the announcement happening at an Xbox showcase around Summer Game Fest in June.

Speaking on the Kinda Funny Podcast recently, Grubb said, “some stuff might be happening with Gears 6 this summer.” He didn’t elaborate much on that point, though it’s believed that the announcement will happen at Xbox’s annual showcase that usually takes place around the month of June (previously occupied by E3). It’s unknown if the reveal will be accompanied by a late 2024 release or sometime in 2025.

Last year, developer The Coalition reportedly cancelled two in-development projects to exclusively work on Gears 6, which is being built in Unreal Engine 5. Another report from last year claims that the game will feature a semi-open world, building on the foundations of a “sandbox” area laid by Gears 5.

Plot details for Gears 6 are still being kept tightly under wraps including who players will get to play as the protagonist. Enough time has passed since the launch of 2019’s Gears 5 for The Coalition to cook up something incredible. With the power of Unreal Engine 5 behind it, we can’t wait to see what the studio has in store for us.

While Microsoft has yet to announce a summer Xbox event, it’s full steam ahead for Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest which will kick off on 7 June with its big showcase. Yesterday, Ubisoft also confirmed that it will be hosting its annual Ubisoft Forward event on 10 June, around the same time frame as Summer Game Fest, where we’ll get a closer look at anticipated upcoming games from the publisher.

Gears 6 is currently in development though platforms haven’t been confirmed yet.
