Stalker 2, which was originally meant to release on 23 April has now been delayed all the way to 8 December 2022. This massive delay will give the developer GSC Game World more time to work on the game and bring its vision to life.
According to the developer, Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl is the biggest project to ever come out of the studio. Thus, the game requires intense testing and polishing in order to get the project to the standard they want. Something like this takes time and the developer says they need more of it.

GSC Game World hasn’t commented on the state of Stalker 2 yet. We also haven’t seen much when it comes to the gameplay… Last month, the studio announced they were incorporating NFTs into Stalker 2. Unfortunately, the announcement was met by some harsh criticism by fans. So much so that GCS Game World announced they scrapped the plan the following day.

While the studio hasn’t confirmed that the NFT cancellation has caused this Stalker 2 delay, it won’t be surprising if it turned out to be true. This last-minute change must have set back development to some degree. However, this delay is quite a substantial one so it might be other factors at play here.
Hopefully, GCS Game World will share more from Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl soon. We haven’t seen much other than a few snippets of gameplay. Even those videos were tied to a visual showcase more than anything else. If you are concerned, I don’t blame you. The game is set to launch for PC and Xbox Series X/S on 8 December.
