New Call of Duty and More to Be Announced at June Xbox Event – Report

The next Call of Duty game as well as potential release dates for Avowed and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle are rumoured to be announced at an Xbox showcase reportedly taking place on Sunday, 9 June. This is according to The Verge which revealed the estimated date alongside what fans can expect from the event. For the most part, we’re pretty excited for what Microsoft could show from its range of first and third-party games that will lay the groundwork for the rest of 2024 and beyond.

The Verge reports that Gears 6 will be one of the games revealed during the upcoming Xbox event, corroborating insider Jeff Grubb’s previous claim that it would be announced sometime this summer. Apart from that, we can also look forward to the reveal of this year’s annual Call of Duty release, which is a Black Ops title rumoured to be set during the Gulf War.

The outlet goes on to claim that we’ll possibly get release dates for Obsidian Entertainment’s Skyrim-inspired RPG, Avowed as well as MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and The Great Circle at the same event. This makes sense as both titles are set to launch before the end of the year for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Furthermore, they’re expected to be Xbox’s exclusive heavy-hitters for 2024, though there’s a good chance we’ll get new details on games releasing next year as well.

Avowed is a game we’re personally quite keen to play. Coming from Obsidian Entertainment, the gameplay promises a blend of first-person role-playing, exploration and combat that plays to the strengths of the studio behind The Outer Worlds and Fallout: New Vegas. It’s not often that we get wield dual wands in an RPG either.

Microsoft has yet to officially announce its summer showcase but in the meantime, both Ubisoft Forward and Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest already have June dates for their annual events.
